Principal's Corner

Dear C.B. Lamb School Community,

I want to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my educational journey. I graduated from LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA, and then attended La Salle University.  After I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in American History, I taught fifth through eighth grade science at St. James Elementary School in Elkins Park and enrolled in Holy Family University's Elementary Teacher Certification Program.

Upon graduating in 1998, I spent eight years teaching in the Cinnaminson School District at Cinnaminson Middle School and Eleanor Rush Intermediate School.  In Cinnaminson, I taught fifth grade and was also the coordinator for the District’s Fifth Grade Recognition Night and outdoor camp excursion. In addition to teaching, I was also the head rowing coach for La Salle University from 1999 - 2001. In 2001, I started Temple University's Doctoral Program for Educational Leadership and Policy Study and defended my dissertation in August of 2006. My thesis topic was“How Do Third Grade Teachers in a Middle Socioeconomic School District Meet the Needs of Students Who are At Risk for Learning, Emotional, and/or Behavioral Problems?”

After graduating from Temple, I was hired as the Program Supervisor for the Tabernacle School District. I worked in that role from 2007 - 2009. During the Summer of 2009, I was appointed the Principal of Tabernacle Elementary School. Since 2009, I have provided administrative oversight on curricular initiatives centered on balanced literacy and mathematics, developed an outdoor learning center, started a school garden which provides fresh vegetables for people in need in the surrounding community, guided my school in receiving Silver Certification through the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Program, and created a continuity of instructional techniques and programming across grade levels.  Lastly,I worked with vested stakeholders to create a positive philosophy for educating students that focused on the whole child.

Some of my interests outside of work include traveling to baseball stadiums across the country with my son, reading biographies.  My favorite topic is U.S. Presidents. I also enjoy oil painting, running, and cheering on my Philly sports teams! I am also a college professor at Temple University and Holy Family University.

I am extremely excited to start a new chapter in my life at the North Hanover Township School District.  Furthermore, I look forward to getting to know and collaborate with the school community at C.B. Lamb. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time if you have any questions. My email address is gpaterson@nhanover.com.

Sincerely,

Gerald Paterson
